I Trulli di Puglia

Speaking of Puglia today is natural to think of the characteristic Trulli. The buildings are typical of this region, made of dry stone and dating mostly from the sixteenth century. The oldest examples we can find them today nell'altopiano Apulian Murgia, while the most famous in tourism are the Trulli of Alberobello, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
These ancient buildings arose mainly as peasant homes, ideal for sleeping and to contain all the tools of working the fields.

Shifting the focus instead of the Salento area, the Trulli take on a different form and are called by different names, typical of the area in which they are located, such as: Pajare, Caseddhi, furnieddhi, etc.
Protected and promoted also by a number of local institutions, have become the symbol of the rural countryside of Salento. The constructions are very similar to Trulli of Alberobello, differ only in the form, because instead of having the coverage of a dome in the form of a cone, the latter are in the shape of a truncated cone. Sometimes you can also find them grouped in two or three buildings that form a single complex. In the past they were used, as well as housing and storage of tools, even as the summer residence of the farmers.

Puglia and the Salento is now known as the lands are rich in history and traditions, with fascinating examples of ancient buildings that offer tourists and residents themselves a breathtaking view. Today, many of these buildings, not only trulli but also farms and cottages, equipped with every comfort, they also offer the opportunity to stay and enjoy a pleasant vacation in them, a unique experience for those who want to immerse themselves in an exciting atmosphere other times.
