Il WWF vigila sulle Cesine: uno degli ultimi tratti di palude costiera
The State Nature Reserve The Gesine is located about 50 Km from San Cataldo, the ancient Port Adriano. It stretches for 620 acres, 348 of which are within the boundaries of the Reserve, established in 1977. The area is managed by WWF Puglia. It is an area with a rich vegetation and a varied wildlife and migratory which represents one of the last stretches of the coastal marshes that stretched between Brindisi and Otranto. Includes a wide variety of environments and between these extensions such as reeds reed hosting yellow iris, orchid purple, channels, sections marsh, swamps and two ponds Pantano Grande and Salapi, separated from the sea by a strip of sand dunes . Other environments that characterize the Reserve are the pine forest, the Mediterranean, the holm oak and cultivate.
