Rodi Garganico

It is part of the Gargano National Park and the Mountain Community of Gargano. Since 2010 can claim the title of city. It is a well-known center for the production of citrus Gargano since the Middle Ages. A popular seaside resort for the quality of its bathing water has been repeatedly awarded the Blue Flag by the Foundation for Environmental Education.

The town is situated on a bluff east of Lake Varano. It is surrounded by lush vegetation composed mainly of citrus orchards, olive groves and pine forests, as well as carob and fig trees. The old town is of medieval origin and is characterized by narrow and steep that creep in an urban homes consisting of uniform architectural appearance, made in such a way that each of you can see the sea.

The high altar dates back to 1873 and on it is placed the icon of Our Lady of the Free. Painted on panel portrays the Virgin seated on a throne with her Child playing with a dove held by a thread. Probably dates from 1400-1450.

Kitchen of the place: the kitchen rodiana is characterized by numerous dishes usually fish or vegetables. The liquors are the pride of the kitchen rodiana. First there is the limoncello, a liqueur made with lemons typical femminello who made famous the Gargano town, followed dall'arancino a liquor oranges.

Events: the feast (2:03 July) with celebrations in honor of the patron saint of the Free and the Blessed Virgin Mary of St. Christopher. The procession through the streets alternates with typical markets and exhibitions.
Summer rodiana: is the series of cultural events that for years characterize the town during the summer months.
