Ruvo di Puglia is part of the National Park of Alta Murgia. With its vineyards and olive groves is one of the largest of the Land of Bari. The territory has characteristics typical of karst landscape of Puglia: sinkholes, karst valleys or blades, among which is reminiscent of the upper course of Lama Balice, in addition to serious, including the Grave of Ferratella. Also the agro ruvestino is characterized tuff, the most widespread rock in the area. Its origins: some finds of stone suggest that the city dates back to the Middle Paleolithic. During the Bronze Age the Iapigi settled in the land of bari giving rise to the lineage peuceta and Ruvo was initially founded as a village on top of a hill located near the church of San Michele Arcangelo. The facade is decorated by Archangel Michael defeating the devil preceded by a small central rose perforated and surrounded by angelic and demonic creatures. The large rose twelve columns is the main protagonist of the facade. It dates back to the sixteenth century. Above the canopy is the enigmatic figure seated probably depicts Robert II of Bassavilla (the funder of the church). At the height of the front is the statue of Christ the Redeemer holding a flag weathervane.
