Important site of the Community of Taranto Murgia, is a municipality in the province of Taranto. The country attracts many tourists throughout the year thanks to its rich historical, artistic and natural.
The main attraction is the characteristic Gravina, deep incision erosive, recognized as a protected natural area. Its walls are characterized by rock dwellings and churches decorated with beautiful frescoes as the Crypt of St. Bartholomew, the Crypt of Santa Sofia and the Church of Santa Barbara.
In the old town stands the imposing Norman castle, dating from the fifteenth century, by Count Robert Guiscard. And 'situated in a dominant position overlooking the ravine. Was transformed later by the Doria family in a Renaissance residence.
Not lacking obvious traces of French colonization in the "mix" of Renaissance style of Puglia with the Gothic, typical of France. One example is the Mother Church, dating back to 1500, initially dedicated to St. Martin of Tours, and then dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary, Matron of the City of Ginosa.
