Fasano

Fasano, known as' 'the city of the' oil '', is situated at the center of a triangle whose vertices are the cities of Bari, Brindisi and Taranto. The city marks the border between the Salento and the Terra di Bari. The name "Fasano" is believed to come from "Faso", the ancient name of a big, white pigeon (represented on the coat of arms) who drank at the so-called "styles ", a well outdoors where streams flowed from the hills.

'Dungeon Fogge

It seems that in the past Fasano had a wall with eleven towers of which now remains only one: the Tower of Fogge, to guard the east gate of the city, overlooking the valley of the shapes. In ancient times the valley was a lake which was the largest water reservoir in the country. Precisely in this valley came the decisive battle between the Turks and the invaders fasanesi that ended with the victory of the latter. The Dolmen of Montalbano
