Albergo diffuso nel cuore degli antichi Rioni Sassi di Matera, le cui camere sono state ricavate restaurando e reinventando antiche case-grotte abbandonate e in disuso, risalenti al 1600.
L’intero albergo si sviluppa in orizzontale intorno a superfici, le corti, mosse da lievi dislivelli su cui si aprono le camere, la reception e la sala colazione dove viene offerta una tipica colazione dolce e salata a buffet, con prodotti della tradizione lucana e frutta fresca.
Le antiche case a piano terra, trasformate in raffinate camere d’albergo, si affacciano su una corte che, grazie ad un paziente lavoro di recupero della originaria pavimentazione (le cosiddette “chiancarelle”), è tornata al suo antico splendore. La corte, di sera, illuminata dalla luce delle candele diventa un luogo suggestivo e raccolto che genera calore e protezione.
Le Camere sono rigorosamente monocromatiche, caratterizzate da tonalità castane che vanno dal beige della pietra al marrone del legno e del ferro cortèn. La terra, la chianca, il colore naturale della pietra diventano parete, soffitto e seduta.
Ogni camera ha un proprio accesso indipendente. Una luce intensa filtra dalle porte d’ingresso, sapientemente lavorate a mano, che attraverso le chiare tende di lino invade il primo ambiente di ogni camera destinato a salotto e area relax. Gli ambienti successivi, quelli più privati, scavati nella roccia, sono invece illuminati da piccole finestre poste sulle volte, cosiddette “bocche di lupo”.
Archi di tufo introducono alle stanze da bagno, ambienti intimi e avvolgenti, caratterizzati da nicchie e cavità che accolgono ampie vasche da bagno e docce in pietra.
L’arredamento, ad eccezione del tessile, è costituito da antichi mobili risistemati e oggetti tipici recuperati: antiche cassapanche in castagno diventano porte, mensole o tavoli, strutture di vecchie sedie in legno diventano porta salviette, sezioni di vecchi tronchi diventano sedute o comodini.
L'albergo dispone di internet Wi-Fi presente in tutta la struttura. E' possibile, previa richiesta, usufruire di servizi quali: baby sitting, massaggi in camera, lavanderia, navetta aeroportuale.
It is a multi-building hotel located in the heart of the ancient “Sassi” districts of Matera, whose rooms (that come from 1600s) are restored and reinvented ancient cave dwellings that have been abandoned and disused.
The whole hotel extends in a horizontal area, the courts, characterized by small drops, where there are the rooms, the reception and the breakfast hall where it is offered a typical sweet and savoury buffet breakfast, with typical food from Lucania and fresh fruit.
The ancient ground-level homes that have been changed in stylish hotel rooms overlook the court that, thanks to a patient recovery work for the original flooring (the so-called “chiancarelle”), has come back to its former glory. The court in the evening when brightened by candlelight becomes a picturesque and relaxing place which creates warmth and protection.
The rooms are strictly monochromatic, characterized by chestnut colours that go from beige of the stones to brown of the wood and iron cortèn. The land, the chianca and the natural colour of the stones become wall, ceiling and sitting.
Each room has its own independent access. A bright light filters from entry doors, wisely handmade, which through lightning linen curtains floods the first space of each room dedicated to living room and relax area. The following rooms, which are more private and carved into the rock are, instead, flooded by windows on the vault, the so-called basement window wells.
Arches of tuff bring in the bathrooms, intimate and warming places, characterized by niches and cavities that receive bathtubs and showers made of stone.
The interior design, except the textile, is made of ancient restored wooden furniture and traditional objects that have been found: ancient storage areas in chestnut have been turned into doors, shelves or tables, the structures of ancient wooden chairs have been turned into towel holder, parts of old wood have been turned into seatings and bedside tables.
The hotel offers internet service in the whole structure. It is possible, if required, to enjoy following services: baby sitting, in-room massage, laundry, airport shuttle.
